What You Need for Pimento Cheese Sandwiches

You only need two ingredients to make this easy pimento cheese sandwich.

Pimento cheese: we highly recommend making your own pimento cheese. We highly suggest making this delicious recipe. However, if you have store bought pimento cheese on hand, feel free to use that, too.

Bread: what type of bread you use for this pimento cheese sandwich is a very personal decision. We used an artisan white bread, but you can use a classic slice of white sandwich bread, wheat bread, gluten free bread, etc.

Variations + Substitutions

Swap sharp cheddar with Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack for a spicy twist. If you’d like your pimento cheese sandwich to be a bit smokey, add smoked paprika or use smoked cheddar.

Consider adding diced jalapeños or green chilies for a kick. You can also substitute mayo with Greek yogurt for a lighter version.

Make it a Hot Sandwich

To make this a grilled pimento cheese sandwich spread ½  tablespoon of butter on each slice of bread. Place a pan over medium/high heat and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side. Serve immediately.

Top Tips for Making an Epic Sandwich

Let the pimento cheese come to room temperature before spreading the pimento cheese over the bread. If the pimento cheese is cold it will tear the bread.
