Privacy Policy

Updated: June 9, 2026

Introduction

We care about your privacy online, so here is relevant information regarding privacy on our Website, cheeseknees.com, as owned and operated by Fit Foodie LLC (“we”; “us”; or “our”). Our goal is to safeguard the privacy of all our visitors and users; to explain who we are and how and why we collect, store, use, and share personal information; and to explain your rights in relation to your personal information. By using this Website, you agree to the following Privacy Policy. Please read this policy carefully before using this Website. This Policy applies to this Website, and any sites, mobile apps, or products that display or link to this Policy. It does not apply to any website, mobile app, service, or product that does not display or link to this Policy or that contains its own privacy policy.

ARBITRATION AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION

For avoidance of doubt, you acknowledge that the transmission of certain technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and routing data) is a necessary and lawful part of Internet communication in order to provide you with the information and services of this website and that you have given your consent for us to collect this information to operate our website.

By accessing or using this Website, you agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to the Company’s collection, use, disclosure, or retention of your personal information, including but not limited to any claim under the California Invasion of Privacy Act (“CIPA”), the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”), or similar state privacy or wiretap laws, shall be resolved exclusively through binding arbitration, rather than in court. You waive any right to a jury trial.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Company retains the right to bring or move an individual claim in small-claims court in Hennepin County, Minnesota to resolve disputes that fall within that court’s jurisdictional limits.

Individual Arbitration Only. All disputes must be brought in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class, collective, consolidated, or representative participant. The arbitrator shall not consolidate or join the claims of other users. If a court determines that this waiver of class or representative actions is unenforceable with respect to a particular claim, that claim must be severed and proceed in court while the remaining claims continue in arbitration.

Governing Forum and Rules. Arbitration shall take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota before the American Arbitration Association under its rules. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. This Agreement and any dispute arising hereunder shall be governed solely by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. No other state’s law shall apply extraterritorially to conduct occurring wholly outside that state, unless the Company expressly designates that state’s law in writing for a particular agreement or transaction. All arbitration proceedings shall remain confidential, except as disclosure is required by law.

Pre-Arbitration Notice and Informal Resolution. Before initiating arbitration, you must send a written notice of dispute to lee@fitfoodiefinds.com identifying your name, contact information, and the specific date and nature of the claim, including any alleged technology or data collection practice involved. Both parties will make a good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally. If the dispute is not resolved within sixty (60) days, either party may commence arbitration.

Opt-Out Option. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by providing written notice to lee@fitfoodiefinds.com within thirty (30) days after first accepting this Privacy Policy or otherwise providing personal information through this Website. If you opt out, you retain your right to bring individual claims in court, but waive participation in any class or representative action.

Safe-Harbor. Nothing in this clause waives any statutory or common-law defenses, including the defense that the Company’s use of cookies, pixels, or analytics technologies is permitted under applicable law.

Survival and Severability. This arbitration provision survives termination of your relationship with the Company. If any portion of this provision is found unenforceable, that portion shall be severed and the remainder enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law, except that if the class/representative-action waiver is found unenforceable, the entire arbitration provision shall be void as to that claim.

WEBSITE USE

No Use for Children. Our Website and any offerings or services on it are not intended for anyone under 13 years of age or anyone considered a child under their country’s laws. If you are under 13, you may not use or provide any information on this Website, use any of its features, register for an account, use any of the interactive or public comment/community features, or provide any information about yourself to us.

If we learn that we have received personal information from a child without validated parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at lee@fitfoodiefinds.com.

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND USE

We collect a variety of information from you when you visit our Website, sign up for our email list, leave a comment, or interact with us on social media or with advertising partners. By accepting this Privacy Policy, you specifically consent to our collection of the data described below, to our use of the data, to the processing of this data, and to our sharing of the data with third-party processors as needed for our legitimate business interests. We retain this data as long as necessary for business purposes, legal purposes, or dispute resolution.

We use reasonable measures to protect your personal information, including administrative and technical measures, but we cannot guarantee zero security risks.

The information we collect may include:

Personal Data: Personal data is information that can be used to identify you specifically, including your name, email address, telephone number (if you opt in to text messages), or demographic information like your age, gender, or hometown. You consent to giving us this information by providing it to us voluntarily on our Website. You provide some of this information when you sign up for our email list or a free resource, leave a comment or review, enter a giveaway, or contact us with questions. Your decision to disclose this data is entirely voluntary.

Derivative Data: Derivative data is information that our servers and our analytics and advertising partners automatically collect about you when you access our Website, such as your IP address, browser type, device identifiers, the dates and times that you access our Website, and the specific pages you view.

Social Networking Data: We may access personal information from social networking sites and apps, including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, and others, which may include your name, username, location, email address, profile picture, and other public information linked to those accounts. To prevent this, adjust your privacy settings on the relevant platform.

Other Data: On occasion, you may give us additional data by entering a giveaway or participating in a survey. You will be prompted for this information, and it will be clear that you are voluntarily offering it.

TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES AND ONLINE INTERACTIONS

We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, scripts, session replay tools, and similar tracking technologies to operate our website, understand how visitors interact with our content, improve user experience, measure performance, enhance security, prevent fraud, and support marketing and advertising efforts.

These technologies may collect information about your interactions with our website, including pages viewed, features used, clicks, scrolling activity, time spent on pages, referring URLs, and general device or browser information. In some cases, this may include recordings or reconstructions of website interactions (commonly referred to as “session replay” or interaction monitoring).

The specific tools we use include:

  • Google Analytics 4 — website usage analytics. See https://policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Plausible Analytics — privacy-focused, cookieless website analytics. See https://plausible.io/privacy.
  • Microsoft Clarity — we partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our Website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay (recordings and reconstructions of individual visitor sessions, with sensitive fields masked). This data is captured using first- and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies and is used for site optimization, fraud and security purposes, and advertising. For more information about how Microsoft collects and uses your data, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement at https://www.microsoft.com/privacy/privacystatement.
  • Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) — measures advertising effectiveness and supports interest-based ads on Meta platforms; we may share a hashed (de-identified) email address to improve ad matching. See https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy.
  • TikTok Pixel — measures advertising effectiveness and supports interest-based ads on TikTok. See https://www.tiktok.com/legal/privacy-policy.

We do not intentionally use these technologies to capture the contents of private communications, such as passwords or other sensitive information you enter into secure forms.

Your Choices. You may control or limit the use of certain tracking technologies through your browser settings, device preferences, or through the cookie consent and preference management tool on our website. Our consent tool requires your consent before deploying non-essential tracking technologies, and we honor browser-based opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required by applicable law. Please note that disabling certain technologies may affect website functionality.

By accessing or using our website after being presented with notice of these tracking practices, you acknowledge and consent to our use of tracking technologies as described in this Privacy Policy, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies (https://www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies/).

Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads: IP Address; Operating System type; Operating System version; Device Type; Language of the website; Web browser type; Email (in hashed form).

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit the National Advertising Initiative opt out page (https://thenai.org/opt-out/). You may also visit the Digital Advertising Alliance website (http://optout.aboutads.info/#/) and Network Advertising Initiative website (http://optout.networkadvertising.org/#) to learn more information about interest-based advertising. You may download the AppChoices app at Digital Advertising Alliance’s AppChoices app (https://youradchoices.com/appchoices) to opt out in connection with mobile apps, or use the platform controls on your mobile device to opt out.

For specific information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects and their data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners (https://www.mediavine.com/ad-partners/).

How We Use Your Information

Your personal information allows us to offer you certain products and services, including the use of our Website; to fulfill our obligations to you; to customize your interaction with our company and our Website; and to allow us to suggest other products and services we think might interest you.

Specifically, we may use the information and data described above to: correspond with you; contact you about new offerings; interact with you via social media; send you our newsletter, recipes, and free resources you request; send you text messages if you opt in to SMS (see below); deliver and measure targeted advertising; request feedback; resolve disputes and troubleshoot problems; administer giveaways; compile anonymous statistical data; prevent fraudulent activity; and analyze trends to improve our Website and offerings.

Why We Disclose Your Information

We may share your information with third parties in certain situations to serve our legitimate business interests. The legal basis for our disclosure is both your consent to this Privacy Policy and our right to protect and promote our legitimate business interests. Specific reasons include:

Third-Party Processing: We may disclose your information to third parties who assist us with tasks such as hosting, email delivery, analytics, and customer service.

By Law / To Protect our Company: We may share data as required by law or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, and to investigate or remedy violations of our rights or policies.

Affiliates: Cheese Knees participates in affiliate programs, including Amazon Associates, Target, and ShopMy/RewardStyle (LTK). We may post customized links that track referrals, and we may earn a commission from purchases made through those links. These programs use cookies to track visits for assigning commissions. Affiliate links may direct you to third-party sites with their own privacy policies.

Advertisers: We use third-party advertising partners — including Mediavine (see the Mediavine Programmatic Advertising section above), as well as the Meta and TikTok advertising platforms via their pixels — to run and measure advertising. These companies may use information about your visits to this and other websites to show you interest-based ads. You should consult the respective Privacy Policies of these partners and use the opt-out tools described in this Policy.

SMS Marketing: If you opt in to receive text messages from us, we value your privacy and the information you consent to share. We may use your phone number to send you text notifications such as new recipes, content updates, marketing offers, and occasional requests for feedback. Your SMS opt-in is separate from, and not required as a condition of, signing up for our email list or accessing the Website. If you wish to unsubscribe from text messages, reply STOP to any message we send, or use any unsubscribe link we provide. You understand and agree that alternative opt-out methods (such as other words or requests) may not be honored as a reasonable means of opting out. Message and data rates may apply. For help, reply HELP to the number you received messages from, or contact us at lee@fitfoodiefinds.com.

Sale or Bankruptcy: If our company or some of its assets are sold, merged, restructured, or enters bankruptcy, your information may be transferred to a successor, who is not bound by this Privacy Policy.

User-Generated Content / Interaction with Others: If you submit comments, reviews, or posts, that content may be viewed by others, and we may distribute it outside the Website.

External Links: Our Website includes links to other websites not controlled by us. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices and encourage you to read their policies.

INTERNATIONAL USERS AND GDPR

If you are located outside the United States, including in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your personal information may be transferred to, processed, and stored in jurisdictions that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

If you are covered by the GDPR, you have rights including: fair processing and transparency; access to your personal information; correction of mistakes; erasure in certain situations; data portability; objecting to processing for direct marketing; objecting to automated decision-making; and restricting processing in certain circumstances. To exercise these rights, contact us at lee@fitfoodiefinds.com and provide enough information to verify your identity and locate your data. For further information, see the UK ICO guidance at https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/individual-rights/.

STATE PRIVACY RIGHTS AND DISCLOSURES

Depending on your state of residence, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, and the right to opt out of certain processing activities such as targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal information.

Categories of Personal Information We Collect. Within the past 12 months we may have collected: Identifiers (e.g., name, email, phone number, IP address); Customer records (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)) such as contact information; Internet or network activity (e.g., browsing history, interactions with our site or ads); and Inference data (e.g., preferences we think may interest you). We do not collect or process “sensitive personal information” except as necessary to operate our business or comply with legal obligations.

Categories of Personal Information Disclosed. We may disclose personal information to: service providers and processors (hosting, analytics, email and SMS delivery, customer support, security); our advertising partners (Mediavine and its partners, Meta, and TikTok) for interest-based advertising; professional advisors; and authorities where required by law.

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information. Some of our advertising practices — including the use of advertising cookies and pixels (such as the Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel), participation in Mediavine’s programmatic advertising, and identity-resolution services — may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under certain state privacy laws. The categories of personal information involved include identifiers, internet/network activity, and a hashed email address. You have the right to opt out. To opt out, you may: (1) use the cookie consent and preference controls on our Website; (2) broadcast an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control (GPC), which we honor where required by law; and (3) use the industry opt-out tools at the Digital Advertising Alliance (https://optout.aboutads.info), the Network Advertising Initiative (https://optout.networkadvertising.org), and LiveRamp (https://liveramp.com/opt_out/). We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age without the consent required by law.

CONSUMER PRIVACY RIGHTS

Depending on where you reside, you may have some or all of the following rights: Right to Know or Confirm; Right to Delete; Right to Correct; Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing (including for targeted advertising); Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information; Right to Data Portability; and Right to Non-Discrimination.

How to Exercise Your Rights. Contact us using either of the following methods:

  • Email: lee@fitfoodiefinds.com
  • The contact form on our Website

Identity Verification. To protect your information, we may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding, minimizing the information required. Information collected solely for verification is used only to process your request and then deleted. You may authorize an agent to submit a request on your behalf with written authorization or a valid power of attorney. If we decline a request, some residents may appeal by emailing us with the subject line “Privacy Appeal.”

NOTICE OF FINANCIAL INCENTIVE

We may offer benefits — such as free downloadable recipe guides, email courses, newsletters, and the ability to have a recipe emailed to you — in exchange for your email address and, in some cases, your name. Because these offers involve the collection of personal information, they may be considered a “financial incentive” under California law.

  • What we collect: your email address, and optionally your name.
  • How to opt in: by submitting one of our signup forms. Participation is voluntary.
  • How to withdraw: unsubscribe via the link in any email we send, or contact us at lee@fitfoodiefinds.com. Withdrawing will not affect your ability to browse the Website.
  • Value / material terms: We offer this content to grow our audience and share recipes, updates, and occasional promotions. The value of the personal information you provide is reasonably related to the value of the free content you receive, estimated based on the cost of creating and delivering the content and the revenue we may earn from communicating with subscribers. We do not assign a monetary price to your participation, and you may decline without losing access to the Website’s recipes and articles. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for declining.

Do Not Track Signals

Because some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal that has no agreed-upon standard, we do not separately respond to DNT signals. We do, however, honor recognized opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required by law, as described above.

Privacy Concerns, Contacting Us, Complaints

You can contact lee@fitfoodiefinds.com with any questions or requests about these policies or your personal data.

We may process, store, and disclose personal information if required by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to (1) comply with legal process; (2) protect and defend our rights or property; or (3) act under exigent circumstances to protect the safety of the public or users of the site. We comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 and may be required to disclose information to a copyright holder who has submitted a valid complaint.

Severability

If any part of this Privacy Policy is deemed unlawful or unenforceable, all other provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Law and Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with United States law. Any dispute arising out of or related to it is subject to the dispute resolution specified in these terms in the State of Minnesota.

Privacy Policy Modifications and Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. You are advised to review it periodically. Changes are effective when posted on this page. Your continued use of the Website serves as acceptance of the updated terms.
