I am notorious for mixing condiments when I’m out to eat. One flavor just isn’t enough! The best thing about homemade sauces is you can mix your favorite flavors to create your dream blend. This Garlic Parmesan Sauce and Spicy Velveeta Queso are great examples of this. But for today, we’re focusing on this cheesy mustard dipping sauce.

Making it is simple. Just mix it together with a hand mixer and refrigerate until ready to use!

What You Need to Make a Delicious Cheesy Mustard Dipping Sauce

  • Cream cheese: Make sure this is softened to room temp before starting.
  • Dijon mustard: We prefer Dijon for its tangy flavor, but you can use any mustard you have on hand.
  • Honey: The sweet element in this sauce. You can adjust the amount to your liking!
  • Kosher salt: Add a pinch to enhance the flavors.
  • Hand mixer: To ensure all the ingredients are thoroughly combined and smooth.

What can I substitute for cream cheese?

If you don’t have cream cheese on hand, there are a few substitutes that can still give your cheesy mustard dipping sauce its creamy texture.

  • Softened butter: Mix together equal parts softened butter and milk until smooth.
  • Sour cream: Use the same amount of sour cream as what is called for in cream cheese. This will give your sauce a tangier flavor.
  • Cottage cheese: Blend cottage cheese until smooth and use in place of cream cheese.

Why you’ll love it!

Cover and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend together and for a thicker consistency.

Storage Instructions

Store any leftover cream cheese mustard sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. When ready to use, simply reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop until warm and creamy again.
