Must Make Cherry Cream Cheese Dump Cake

This cherry cream cheese dump cake recipe could not be easier! But don’t you worry, there’s no skimping on a sweet treat yummy goodness in this cream cheesy dessert.

With just 6 ingredients, we hope this cream cheese cherry dump cake will quickly become a favorite dessert in your house, too.

PS: have you tried our blackberry cobbler? It’s similar and equally as delicious.

What is Cream Cheese Cherry Dump Cake?

This cream cheese cherry dump cake is a cross between a cake and a cobbler. The bottom of the cake (what you dump in first!) is made from cherry pie filling, and then the top is dry cake mix sprinkled with grated butter that then becomes a delicious crumble when baked.

Add in dollops of cinnamon-y cream cheese throughout the cake, and you’ve got yourself a delicious sweet treat the whole family will love.

All the Ingredients You Need

You’re only 6 ingredients away from this cream cheese cherry dump cake. You’ll need:

  • Canned cherry pie filling: this gives your dump cake its delicious fruity filling.
  • Cream cheese: dollops of a cinnamon cream cheese mixture melt and bake into your cake.
  • Vanilla extract: this gets folded into your softened cream cheese along with the ground cinnamon.
  • Ground cinnamon: is there anything better than a cinnamon cream cheese mixture?
  • Yellow cake mix: this dry cake mix gets dumped right in your baking dish. And trust us, it soaks into the cherry pie filling and the butter melts around it, making such a fun dessert.
  • Salted butter (you’ll grate this with a cheese grater!): this is to moisten the dry cake mix, which essentially creates a crumbly topping for your dump cake.

Can you really dump all the ingredients in?

You sure can! You’ll want to be sure you dump the ingredients into the cake pan in the order specified in the recipe, but other than that, this recipe could not be easier.

Can you use another flavor cake mix?

We used yellow cake mix, but you can absolutely use another variety to jazz up your dump cake. White cake mix or funfetti cake mix are great options, too!

Can You Use Another Flavor of Pie Filling?

Definitely! Any fruit pie filling will do.

Why Grate the Butter?

We grated the butter because it melts more evenly on the top of the cake. This helps avoid completely dry sections of powdered cake mix once your dump cake is baked.

Store this cream cheese cherry dump cake in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
