We’re sure you’ve seen the viral TikTok Pasta Chips. Well, we’re taking things up a notch and using lasagna noodles with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese to make these the ultimate dip scooper!

We were skeptical about air fryer pasta chips at first, but the truth is, we can’t stop eating them now. Lasagna noodles are the BEST shaped pasta for this tasty snack. They come out crunchy, satisfying, and extra cheesy, all thanks to grated parmesan cheese.

You may be making your own chips, but this is a super easy recipe. Just cook your pasta, prep and cut the noodles, and put ’em in your air fryer basket to cook. Before you know it, you’ll have a crunchy snack ready for any occasion!

Air Fryer Pasta Chips – What You Need

  • Lasagna noodles: This recipe calls for cooked al dente noodles, and we’re using lasagna noodles because they’re a great pasta shape for scooping!
  • Olive oil: Olive oil is used to make delightfully crispy air fryer pasta chips. You can also try using olive oil spray instead.
  • Grated parmesan cheese: The best way to add cheesy flavor to your homemade pasta chips!
  • Spices: For these pasta chips, you’ll need a classic Italian seasoning blend such as thyme, rosemary, basil, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.

Substitutions and Variations

Any kind of pasta will work for this recipe, whether it’s bowtie pasta, rigatoni pasta, farfalle pasta, etc. You can even use gluten-free pasta as well! Just keep your eye on cook time so you don’t burn them as they’ll be a slightly different size than the lasagna noodles.

While we kept things super simple with some dried herbs and grated parmesan cheese, you can absolutely make these your own with any seasoning you have on hand.

Tips for Making Drool-worthy Air Fryer Pasta Chips

Cook your noodles al dente: Cook your pasta according to package instructions, but make sure to cook it just until it’s al dente. This way, they won’t be too mushy when they go into the air fryer.

Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket: Make sure to leave some space between each noodle in the basket so that they have room to crisp up evenly.

Flip halfway: For perfectly crispy pasta chips, flip them over halfway through cooking.

How to Store

If you have any leftover pasta chips, you can store them in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days. Keep in mind that they may lose some of their crispiness, but they will still be delicious!

Air Fryer Pasta Chips

Air Fryer Pasta Chips — the ultimate dip scooper! Learn how to make parmesan pasta chips in the air fryer with lasagna noodles for an easy scoop for any dip.

  • 6 uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (+more for drizzling)
  • ½ cup finely grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles to the boiling water. Stir the lasagna noodles around so they do not stick together.
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles until they are al dente. Strain the pasta and rinse them with cold water.
  3. Lay the cooked lasagna noodles out onto a paper towel and pat them dry. Drizzle the noodles with olive oil so they don’t stick to the paper towel and set them aside.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400ºF and spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.
  5. Next, add the parmesan, thyme, rosemary, basil, garlic, red pepper flakes and salt  to a large bowl and mix until combined.
  6. Use kitchen shears to cut the lasagna noodles into 2-inch pieces. Then, add the lasagna noodles into the bowl with the cheese and spices.

  7. Toss the noodles together with the cheese and spices until coated.

  8. Layer the air fryer basket with the noodle pieces. It’s okay if they are touching and slightly overlapping as you’ll be cooking these in 3 to 4 batches. Drizzle the noodles with ½ tablespoon of olive oil.
  9. Cook the lasagna noodles for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, shake the air fryer basket to mix the noodles around and then cook the noodles for another 3 minutes. If the noodles are golden brown, they are done. If your noodles are still a pale beige color, cook the noodles 1 minute at a time until they turn into golden brown chips.
  10. Remove the noodles from the basket and repeat steps 8-9 until all of the noodles are cooked. How many batches are needed varies depending on the size of your air fryer.
  11. Serve the lasagna pasta noodles with this lasagna dip or any other dip of your choice.

  • You can use other dried pasta in place of the lasagna noodles. We recommend using 2-3 cups of rigatoni or bowtie pasta.

We found that after the air fryer heated up 2 minutes, shake, then another 2-1/2 minutes made the chips come out great!
