Easy Cream Cheese Mints Recipe

Cream cheese mints are such a nostalgic holiday treat. Lucky for you, they are so easy to make at home and only require a few ingredients!

Obviously, the star of the show is cream cheese because it’s malleable and easily firms up with the combination of powdered sugar. Mint extract is added for that minty fresh flavor and food coloring is optional.

What You Need

Cream cheese: cream cheese is obviously the star of the show. It’s easily malleable and takes on the flavor of the mint quite nicely.

Butter: a little butter adds a nice richness.

Powdered sugar: it is very important that you do not sub the powdered sugar for anything else as it is what allows these mints to take shape.

Peppermint extract: all you need is 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract.

Food coloring: the food coloring is optional but very festive and we highly recommend it.

Can I substitute a different sugar?

We don’t recommend any other sugars for this recipe.

How to Make Cream Cheese Mints

Combine

Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl and use a hand mixer to combine until the mixture feels like wet sand.

If you’re using food coloring, we recommend starting with 1 drop and going up from there until it reaches the desired color.

Ball

Use your hands to firmly press the dough together, creating a ball.

Roll + Press

Use a teaspoon as your scooper and roll the mints into balls and then roll them in the remaining powdered sugar. Use a fork to press the mints down.

Can I use a mold?

Instead of rolling and pressing, you can easily use a treat mold to form whatever shape you’d like

Store

Store mints in an airtight container with parchment paper separating each row so they don’t stick.

Can cream cheese mints be left out?

You can leave cream cheese mints out on the counter stored in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. By leaving them out, you actually help them dry out, making them last longer.

If stored in the fridge, condensation may appear and you will likely have to roll them

Storage

Store cream cheese mints in an airtight container, lining each row with parchment paper for up to 3-4 days.
