The ingredients for this apple pie with cheese comes down to 2 simple elements. The filling and the crumble topping. You’ll need:
Filling
- Granny smith apples
- Sugar
- Light brown sugar
- Cinnamon
- All purpose flour
- Lemon juice
- Frozen pie crust (we used this one!)
Crumble topping
- All purpose flour
- Rolled oats
- Brown sugar
- Shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Unsalted butter
How to Make Apple Pie with Cheese
For the Filling
- Preheat the oven to 350℉ and place your pie crust on a baking sheet.
- Peel and core the granny smith apples, and then slice the apples into ¼ inch pieces and transfer them into a large bowl.
- Next add the sugars, cinnamon, flour, and lemon juice to the apple bowl. Toss until all of the slices are completely covered in the sugar mixture. Yum!
- Transfer the apple mixture into the pie crust and set aside.
For the Crumble Topping
- To make the topping, add the flour, oats, sugar, and cheddar into a bowl and stir with a fork.
- Pour the melted butter into the crumble mixture and mix until the flour and sugar are a wet sand consistency.
- Place the pie on a baking sheet and sprinkle the crumble all over the top. Bake at 350ºF for 55 minutes. When the pie is done, let rest for 30 minutes before serving so that the center can thicken.
- Slice and enjoy with your favorite toppings!
