- 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- 1½ lbs. 85% ground beef
- ½ yellow onion diced
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- 2 cups shredded lettuce
- 4 oz. shredded cheddar cheese ~1 cup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup taco sauce
- 12 individual-sized bags of Fritos
Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet set over medium heat.
Once hot, add the ground beef and cook for 3-4 minutes.
Add the diced onion and continue cooking until the onion is translucent and the beef is cooked through, about 2-3 more minutes.
Mix in the taco seasoning and tomato sauce and cook for another minute.
Cut one side of each bag of chips (length-wise) to make a handheld "pocket."
Assemble the walking tacos: On top of the Fritos, layer ¼ cup of taco meat, ⅓ cup of lettuce, 1 tablespoon of cheddar cheese, 1 tablespoon of sour cream, and 1 tablespoon of taco sauce. Repeat to assemble all 12 tacos.

Don’t assemble these too early. Walking tacos are best served immediately after assembling, so the chips stay crunchy and don’t get soggy from the warm taco meat and toppings.
Keep the taco meat warm. If you’re serving for a party or taco bar, keep the seasoned beef in a slow cooker on the warm setting so guests can assemble their tacos throughout the event.
