- 2 21-oz. cans cherry pie filling
- 8 oz. cream cheese softened
- 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 7 tablespoons cold salted butter grated
Preheat the oven to 350ºF and spray a 9x13-inch cake pan with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
Prepare the cream cheese mixture by placing the cream cheese, vanilla extract and cinnamon in a bowl and using a spoon to mix everything together until smooth and combined.
Pour the cherry pie filling into the bottom of the greased pan and then evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the cherry pie filling into cream cheese clumps.
Sprinkle the cake mixture evenly over the cherry pie filling and cream cheese.
Spread the grated butter all over the top of the cake mixture and then place the cake in the oven.
Bake the cake for 60 minutes. Check the cake at 60 minutes, and continue baking in increments of 10 minutes until the cake begins to crack and the cherry filling begins to bubble.
Remove from the oven and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
